Had a cheerful cab driver on my way here this morning from the station. I commented that it looked as if it was going to be a good day. He replied that in his iopinion, every day was a good day. I stand corrected. "This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."

More on the replica sites selling fake tickets to teh rugby and opera. I heard on the radio that someone suggested finding out their ISP# and bookmarking that. The correct site of course. Now I'm not into computers, but I thought that dial-up connections ISPs change, and cable etc remain constant? Hopefully, Opera House and Australian Rugby are cable. Of course, I may well be way off the track here.

I like the combination for this ticket scam. Rugby and opera. Says something about society in Sydney, I think. Either they are totally unrelated and the crims. have doubled their chance of making a fistful, or they go together and the same applies. Actualy, I think that they would have greater exposure if they went with League, not Rugby. Rah-rahs are more likely to attend the opera than most of the league fans I know.

And on the last page of the main section of the paper... A discussion about the death of conversation in groups. the write reports that many lunch conversations are being killed by calls to and from mobiles and by text messaging. She concludes: Why is it that people would rather talk on a mobile phone than talk to the person next to them?

On the same page as the article about women, is an advertisement for a study into obesity in school children in New South Wales. One child in four is overweight. Part of the study will address education, advrtising aimed at children and also what is sold in school canteens. So we fatten them up and then promote the cult of thinness later.

Obsession with weight loss is reducing females in staure as well as size, says an article by Jess Cartner-Morely. Apparently, the preferred size for starlets in USA is size 0. Nothing about health benefits, just stick figures. Conclusion? A frightening thought: the media fascination with weight has its roots ( or maybe its reflection) in the shrinking size of women in the public eye. Food for thought there.(Ouch!)

Credit card secret charges willnow be set by the Reserve bank, rather than the banks themselves. Australian banks last year took $Aus. 1.5 billion in hidden fees. This will now be drastically reduced.

A Federal Liberal member of Parliament has been won for a day in a charity raffle by the madam of a brothel! Much mirth as his duties were discussed. Driving? Cleaning? He expected to take part in a community service sex education show on Perth television.

Lots of bits and pieces in this morning's paper.

Credit card scams on Sydney Opera House tickets? Fake internet sites have been set up to duplicate genuine sites selling tickets to event sat the Opera House. Same thing has happened with Rugby Union tickets except that the genuine ones are not yet on sale. Now I don't buy on the net. Someone obtained our credit card number and ran up a massive bill (well into $000s) in phonecharge calls to porn numbers. We didn't have to pay, but we still do not know how our number was obtained. This has reinforced our emphasis in not buying over net, even with a special low limit card. I suppose this is just life after all. Jesus called the devil the father of lies. Set up something that looks like the real thing, and look how easily we are trapped.

From an article on a book called Thought Miracles by Rebeckah Burns, 'metaphysician', (really a poorly disguised advertisement.)

I feel self-confident this day because the positive power of the universe is working for my good this day

Really! The book of Colossians is as needed now as in the first century AD. Another gem of an affirmation:
I attract prosperity into my life now and eternally.

This New Age rubbish was in a page called "inspirations" in a magazine I picked up in the supermarket. The power of the mind is definitely strong, but " the positive power of the universe?
Christ is Lord over all the powers whatever they may be. Colossians 1:15-29.

I see the Sydney Morning Heraldreports that the government has backed down on its proposal to link parenting payments to compulsory parenting "education" such as videos and seminars. I'm sure there must be some good stuff on parenting around, but I know there is also some absolute rubbish as well. I found parenting ( and still find, even with an adult family) to be a strong incentive to prayer.

More on the bedroom saga. We had new wardrobes delivered last weekend. However, the delivery guys decided they needed two more men to get wardrobes over our top front verandah rail, as they would not fit up the stairs very well. Now warehouse manager has just rung to say that it will be at least tomorrow or next week before we get them. I was expecting them today.

Some interesting observations on my stats at my journal at diary-x. Referrals to the journal from blogs4God.com have been up to 80 daily. Referrals from another site which has refused my request to take down the link? So far, in a period of 2-3 weeks, (I'm not entirely sure of time frame), none. I find this interesting.

I've just been shopping for new bedside tables. I live in what is for Sydney, a very old house. We started to renovate the main bedroom months ago and then discovered we needed a new floor and a new ceiling. Repair work to walls. As we also had to deal with mother-in-law's house- when she moved into hostel care, progress has been slow. However, the end is in sight.

Have been unexpectedly entertaining my 2 year old granddaughter this afternoon. Delightful little girl. I'm reminded that Calvin says God speaks to us in baby talk so we can understand. I don't use words like "choo-choo," but just very simple expressions so that she understands me. So what will the full reality be?

Back again and still trying to figure out some problems with my template. Am a firm believer in trying to work things out for myself. Makes them stick in my head that way. Still very much a novice as far as HTML goes, although I can do basic stuff.
